Amycolatopsis balhimycina
Number of reactions: XXX;
First published: 2008
Available formats: xml, xml (cobra), bioOpt, RFX
Infection caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is an increasing societal problem. Typically treatments of these infections can only be done with the glycopeptides antibiotics vancomycin, synercid, and teiocoplanin. Amycolatopsis balhimycina serves as a model strain for glycopeptide production due to its ability to produce the vancomycin-analogue balhimycin.

Aspergillus nidulans
Number of reactions: XXX;
First published: 2008
Available formats: xml, xml (cobra), bioOpt, RFX
Aspergillus nidulans is a member of a diverse group of filamentous fungi, sharing many of the properties of its close relatives with significance in the fields of medicine, agriculture and industry. Furthermore, A. nidulans has been a classical model organism for studies of development biology and gene regulation.
